INTERNAVA is a not-for-profit, non-political, music organization, recently
formed to support Iranian musicians, Iranian composers and to promote a wider
understanding and appreciation of Iranian contemporary music and original
Persian music, around the world. Collaboration between Iranian musicians and
European musicians will be encouraged, to perform Classical Music and World
Music. Professional advice and support will also be offered to exceptionally
talented young Iranian musicians who wish to audition for and study at the
world’s leading music conservatoires.
I am delighted that INTERNAVA is planning an 80th Birthday Tribute Concert for me in Tehran on 16th July 2018, which will include my BAGATELLES for String Quartet (based on Armenian Folk Themes).
I am also delighted to be invited to compose the music for INTERNAVA’s first orchestral commission, intended for family audiences in Iran and around the world, ZAL & THE PHOENIX, based on the story written by Iran’s world famous poet Ferdowsi. I was honored in 2015 to receive the Ferdowsi Medal from the Ministry of Culture in Iran for my four Operas based on the SHAHNAME, This new commission from INTERNAVA has special significance, the 1000th Year Commemoration of Ferdowsi’s death taking place in 2020, when a recording and performances for a World Tour are planned for “ZAL & THE PHOENIX”.
I send my warmest best wishes for a bright and successful future for INTERNAVA over the forthcoming years.
Since its recent inception, Internava has established an international reputation for its professionalism and bold vision. Its musical mission to connect musicians from around the world, without any borders or boundaries, is something I wholeheartedly support.
